PBBA runs its own teacher training course. As PBBA teacher training is run as an apprenticeship system, it is not financially prohibitive. The course ensures participants gain a thorough knowledge of the PBBA syllabus at levels 1-5, and directs its students to study the relevant anatomy of bones, muscles and joints in depth. It is part-time over a period of 30 months to a few years, depending upon ability, determination, background training and knowledge.

PBBA is a highly evolved system. It takes years to acquire the knowledge and skill of the PBBA teacher. Not only must s/he be successfully trained to demonstrate the 'Classical Matwork' sequences (35 tough exercises requiring fine judgment of movement and an extremely well tuned physique) but s/he must have a profound understanding of human bio-mechanics, postural alignment, breathing techniques, remedial and corrective movement therapy and the psychology of the group training process.

In consequence, PBBA teacher training can never be run purely for profit churning out new teachers year after year. PBBA trains for its central London clients and the spin off is another highly skilled Pilates teacher out there spreading the word. Only committed Pilates practitioners are accepted on PBBA teacher training courses. Not only do you have to be good at Pilates and anatomy, you have to be good with people, dedicated and have the stamina to last a 2 and a half year part-time training course.
